The French Quarter
Just as every tourist leaves New Orleans with some French Quarter memory, many of we fortunate natives trace our roots back to this colorful area. My mother-in-law grew up on the second floor of a building on Bourbon Street that housed a family run laundry. That building is now a famous seafood restaurant My great uncle worked his entire life as a dealer in one of the illegal gambling houses which graced the Quarter for years.
My standard offer is a free dinner at the great New Orleans restaurant of your choice for anyone who can show me a place with more of a European flair and ambiance than the Quarter.
It is a great place to visit, but somewhat pricey to call home. The thing to remember when looking at property in the Quarter is that those wrought iron framed pieces of our history have shown steady growth not for years, but for decades. |
