While there is always a story connected to the names given to parts of the city, some can actually be translated by non-natives. The “University Area” is anchored around Tulane and Loyola Universities. Lush oak trees, homes of historic significance, and the scent of sweet olive bushes are the trademarks of this area. In addition to the old family homes, the area offers condos, student rental apartments, and many New Orleans shot-gun homes.
