A unique neighborhood in a city whose name defines unique, Mid City is home to the “Fairgrounds” race track, one of the oldest thoroughbred race courses in the nation. Those who do not “follow the ponies” know the Fairgrounds as the home of Jazz Fest, another New Orleans contribution to the music world.
Esplanade, a broad tree-lined avenue, runs through Mid City connecting the Vieux Carre with City Park. The route is spotted with small restaurants, coffee shops, and several different styles of New Orleans architecture.
