A suburb which has grown larger than the city it supports,  Metaire offers a wide range of housing in price selection, style, and neighborhood.  One of its huge draws is a much lower tax rate than New Orleans.  There is a perception that the school system is better and then, of course, the shopping.  In addition to the two huge malls at Clearview and Lakeside, the community is peppered with strip malls.  Although its neighbor to the east would never admit it, there are some excellent restaurants in Metairie.
